To a point. If he truly believes he’s “bad luck” then keeping his distance is probably what he felt was best. 

I re-watched the scene when you sent me this and I noticed that he started talking about how Salem used people and lingered in the shadows and all I could think was “Just like Ozpin” lol. 

Those two are basically two sides of the same coin - only one of them is honest about their intentions.
